Did you notice the new header picture? Those are the Aglianico grapes, an Italian red variety. It may be hard to believe, but they are truly that blue/purple in color! These vines are now in their fifth year and are holding about 11 tons of fruit per acre – that’s over 16 pounds per vine!
The previous Dimes2Vines header picture (below) was also the Aglianico grapes but at the time they were only 1 1/2 years old. Then, the vines were carrying only about 400 pounds across all 2.8 acres – what a difference!
It is hard to believe that we have been here in West Texas for almost 5 years. A lot of hard work has gone into getting the vineyard started and when I see these two pictures and how the vines have matured, it is exciting to say the least!
