I am afraid that sometimes I come across as living in paradise. A world where everything goes according to plan. But, that is not the case! So, today I want to have a hear to heart talk and share with you some struggles that I have been going through, how God has used them in my life, and exciting things that are coming for next year!
What Matters is NOT Our Circumstances but Our Response to Them
I try to be real and share what is really going on around here – like losing the Roussanne grapes! We do have set backs and I encourage the children that it’s not the circumstances that are important but it is our response to those circumstances.
Some call it a satanic attack and others call it the Lord’s leading. As a Christian, I feel that He has been trying to get my attention for awhile but I was too busy to listen! Until, that is, I got sick.
Late last winter, I started breaking out with eczema, something I have never had in my life. It began on my hands and wrists. Finally they were so bad (dry, itching and bleeding) that I ended up at the doctor for steroids – anything to relieve the itching! I’m telling you it can be terrible!
John asked me one day if eczema was an autoimmune problem to which I answered that I didn’t think so! But, with research, I soon learned that it was. That caused me start the GAPS diet once again. I have had amazing results using the GAPS diet with my rheumatoid arthritis and hoped it would help again. Well, I can say that it did and I look forward to sharing more about it in the coming year with details and pictured. I also plan to give details about how I did the GAPS intro diet step-by-step!
As if that were not enough, I came down with mono! As a nurse, I know just enough to be dangerous! Add to that the fact that I really don’t like going to the doctor = self diagnosis. I knew the symptoms and thought mono was the problem. I was praying that God would give me a sign to go to the doctor if it were something else. The very next week, a gal at our church was diagnosed with it too – she had been to the doctor!
I do not remember a time when I have been so tired. I mean clear down to my bones! After sleeping 9+ hours at night and numerous naps during the day, I am finally feeling better. I have learned the importance of sleep. No longer can I act like I’m 15 yrs old and only get 5 hours a night! I need my sleep.
The Lord has used all this to refocus my priorities. To be honest, it has been a good time to concentrate on personal healing and family! There truly is a silver lining to every cloud! It reminds me of one of Dr. Charles Stanley’s Life Principles: Dark moments in our life last only as long as is necessary for God to accomplish His purpose in you.
I’m excited about 2017 and all I want to share. Nothing happens by accident and I hope to encourage others by what I have been through. The new year will be focusing on a Healthy You! I don’t want to giveaway too much but I will have details about the GAPS diet and printables to help you track your progress with your goals!
I have also focused on our budget. When we lost our Roussanne crop, we lost most of our disposable income. I am excited to share with you how I budget and keep track of it all. Saving money never goes out of style!
Don’t think I am going to stop sharing all that is going on in the vineyard or on our house building or farm or family! We are planting 5 more acres of grapes this year and I can’t wait to tell you about it and show you how we do it! It’s a new variety for us and we are excited about the expansion!
Beatrice, our family milk cow is due to calve ANY day – YEAH! That mean fresh milk once again and that means a huge savings for our budget since I use almost a gallon of milk a day just for kefir!
Finally, one of the most exciting projects I have for you is a printable planner for the new year. I can’t wait to help you get organized to get the most out of your time and energy. As busy women, it is easy to get overwhelmed and never accomplish the amazing things possible. I have found that planning takes the daunting tasks and makes them more manageable. Its gonna be exciting as we work through it all together.
