Have you ever had a gallbladder attack?
I had my first when pregnant with our 8th child and after an all-you-can eat pizza buffet - a high fat meat! It was no fun, in fact, it was quite painful! As a nurse, I knew that I was a prime candidate for gallbladder surgery. Having cared for gallbladder patients, ...
I am quickly approaching my one year anniversary on the GAPS diet and the results have been life changing - Literally!
Can you imagine the home educating mother of 10 children - well, only 7 of them are still at home ;) - not being able to do simple everyday activities? That was me!
Just one year ...

As shared earlier in GAPS - My Experience, I was diagnosed with osteoporosis at 47 years of age. And, this was before menopause! Normally, women may be diagnosed with osteopenia before menopause and after menopause it progresses to osteoporosis. Not me - I skipped osteopenia and went straight to osteoporosis!
If you are not familiar with osteopenia ...

A friend cornered me after church Sunday and had a question for me. We had spoken at length on previous occasions about his health problems and how the GAPS diet might benefit him. He also knew that we had done GAPS as a family and now, all but myself are on a traditional, real food ...

As I began seeing significant physical improvement as a direct result of the GAPS diet, I began wondering what was next? The GAPS diet is not intended to be a lifelong way of eating but only for a period of time necessary to heal the gut. If a change in diet had such a dramatic ...
You may have noticed my latest recipe additions - Sauerkraut and Fermented Carrots - are fermented. Being on the GAPS Diet and reading about the health benefits of probiotics, I have purposefully added them to our family's diet. One way to get probiotics is through fermented foods. But, not just "fermented" as in pickled, I ...
While we undertook the GAPS Diet as a family experiment, to make sure everyone had healthy gut bacteria, the results have been encouraging. I have detailed my experience with the GAPS (relief from rheumatoid arthritis pain and ability to eat meat after a 30 year "allergy") but the family has also benefited. There are 4 ...
We have just completed our second week on the GAPS Introduction Diet as a family. If you are not familiar with GAPS, you might like to read the GAPS Review to find out more. It definitely went much smoother than the first week! We continued with about 2 days per stage and very few symptoms of die-off ...
Driving home from Georgia after attending my father-in-law's funeral, I read aloud the GAPS book. It is such an interesting book and made so much sense, as far as, our overall health being related to our intestinal health. I had posted earlier about my experience with GAPS and the amazing relief I have found from ...

GAPS - Gut and Psychology Syndrome - written by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride MD, has been life changing for me. I am talking about dramatic changes in my physical health since beginning the GAPS Introduction Diet! If you have not already, please take time to read the GAPS Review which will explain a bit more about the link ...

About Me
God has amazingly blessed me, Dina-Marie, with a wonderful husband and 10 beautiful children. Moving from our "secure" life in Alabama to the "exciting" life of starting a vineyard in west Texas has definitely been challenging. Besides frugality, farm life and simple living, I have learned the importance of diet, quality of food and traditional cooking. Through the GAPS diet, I am successfully reversing my rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis and food allergies.
I hope to encourage you to make the most of where you are and what you have as I share my life with you.
