Having children at home, it seems as if someone is always wanting something to eat!
Oh, they eat very well at meals but, I think because we work outside so much in the hot weather, they are always hungry! I just can not seem to keep them full. Or, maybe it is because there are several ...

How many time have you heard the saying, "waste not, want not"?
Our family saying is, "use it up, wear it out, make do or do without".
Actually, it is my husband's saying!
I am the one who loves to shop - for bargains of course!
But, I do hold to the basic idea of being good stewards and ...

What is a REAL food kitchen without REAL herbs, spices, salts and herbal teas?
I posted a few weeks ago about getting organized in my kitchen - including my spices. You may have noticed the links to Mountain Rose Herbs in that post, as well as, in other recipes. I recommend them ONLY because they offer ...

A couple of weeks ago I detailed how we had started to apply EIFS to the greenhouse walls. Well, this week we completed them!
EIFS is an acronym for exterior insulation finishing system and also provides insulation value. It is like a synthetic stucco but more durable than traditional stucco. EIFS is applied in 3 steps - a thin layer ...

Today on Family Friday I would like to share an update on the greenhouse.
Last week we poured the concrete in the ICF walls (insulated concrete forms). While the ICF has excellent insulation value, we chose it for the greenhouse just for ease. The ICF snap together like big legos and are so easy for the DIY'ers. We ...

Do you ever feel that if you could just get organized, you might get something accomplished?
That has been me these past couple of months.
You might wonder what has happened to the recipes here at Cultured Palate.
There have not been any new ones posted in several weeks!
Well, I have one word for you .....
Pruning!
Yes, I was ...

Last week, after posting Getting Started with REAL Foods, I received several emails with questions about particular steps to take. I also received an encouraging email from a longtime reader, Sara, detailing the steps she took to get started with REAL food after being introduced to Nourishing Traditions. I thought everyone would enjoy hearing her story. Sara ...

You may have noticed a new tab in the menu bar today, "Shop" with a page for the Bosch Universal Plus Mixer and the Nutrimill Grain Mill underneath. I have become an authorized dealer for both the Bosch and the Nutrimill!
Now, you can shop through Cultured Palate and make your life easier as you provide traditional, ...

You may have noticed that there was no Family Friday post last week. I have a good excuse - I was in Georgia visiting my mother and sister before heading to Alabama to clean the rest of our stuff out the house we had lived in for 20 years before moving to Texas to start ...

About Me
God has amazingly blessed me, Dina-Marie, with a wonderful husband and 10 beautiful children. Moving from our "secure" life in Alabama to the "exciting" life of starting a vineyard in west Texas has definitely been challenging. Besides frugality, farm life and simple living, I have learned the importance of diet, quality of food and traditional cooking. Through the GAPS diet, I am successfully reversing my rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis and food allergies.
I hope to encourage you to make the most of where you are and what you have as I share my life with you.
