Have you ever had a gallbladder attack? I had my first when pregnant with our 8th child and after an all-you-can eat pizza buffet – a high fat meat! It was no fun, in fact, it was quite painful! As a nurse, I knew that I was a prime candidate for gallbladder surgery.

I am quickly approaching my one year anniversary on the GAPS diet and the results have been life changing – Literally! Can you imagine the home educating mother of 10 children – well, only 7 of them are still at home – not being able to do simple everyday activities? That was me!

As shared earlier in GAPS – My Experience, I was diagnosed with osteoporosis at 47 years of age. And, this was before menopause! Normally, women may be diagnosed with osteopenia before menopause and after menopause it progresses to osteoporosis. Not me – I skipped osteopenia and went straight to osteoporosis! If you are

You may get the impression that I think GAPS is the miracle, cure-all for everyone. And, you would be right – almost! I have had such dramatic results and such a complete turn-around in my health, that it must be for everyone – right? After all, we all think that what we are

![]() You may have noticed my latest recipe additions – Sauerkraut and Fermented Carrots – are fermented. Being on the GAPS Diet and reading about the health benefits of probiotics, I have purposefully added them to our family’s diet. One way to get probiotics is through fermented foods. But, not just “fermented” as in pickled, I

![]() While we undertook the GAPS Diet as a family experiment, to make sure everyone had healthy gut bacteria, the results have been encouraging. I have detailed my experience with the GAPS (relief from rheumatoid arthritis pain and ability to eat meat after a 30 year “allergy”) but the family has also benefited. There are 4

To start with, this is not one of my normal posts – this is really quite serious, in fact diet and life changing. As Don Knotts said in the Ghost and Mr. Chicken, “Let me clarify this.” At age 17, I was found to be allergic to fowl, pork and red meat! This may

About Me
God has amazingly blessed me, Dina-Marie, with a wonderful husband and 10 beautiful children. Moving from our "secure" life in Alabama to the "exciting" life of starting a vineyard in west Texas has definitely been challenging. Besides frugality, farm life and simple living, I have learned the importance of diet, quality of food and traditional cooking. Through the GAPS diet, I am successfully reversing my rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis and food allergies.
I hope to encourage you to make the most of where you are and what you have as I share my life with you.
