Last week sure took an unexpected turn for us. I thought I had another week to do grocery shopping, menu list, lesson plans and other last minute items. But, with one phone call, plans changed and I was on my way to El Paso. It was definitely for a good cause! We have a new addition to the family – a granddaughter!
A c-section had been planned for the following week but this bundle of joy would not wait! She decided to come on Valentine’s day! Thankfully, giving a few instructions as I packed, I was able to leave quickly. The two oldest boys at home drove with me on the 5 1/2 hour trip.
When people ask me how I do it having such a large family, I wonder how I would do it without them! John and the children at home are very competent and can handle things without me. Plus, it is very nice to have older boys to take with me on road trips!
Even being a week early, this little girl was a “big” little girl! Weighing in at 7 lbs 15 oz, she was 22 inches long. She had been breach the last few months of pregnancy which was the reason for the c-section.
With each child and now grandchild, I am reminded of Psalm 139:13:
“For You formed my inward parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.”
Each child is such a miracle, aren’t they?
I was able to see the Valentine baby late the night of her birth. She has a big brother whom we took to the hospital the next morning. He is taking the role of being a big brother seriously and loves to see baby sis.
Big brother checked several times to make sure that she had both ears, two eyes, mouth and nose!
“Behold, children are a gift of the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.”
Do you have grandchildren? How many and do they live close by?
