I posted quite a while ago about building our own hoop house. It has worked wonderfully – except for the high winds whipping the plastic around. We finally took the plastic off and left the small plants protected by buckets. The buckets provided shade, as well as, wind protection. Now, however, it is time to transplant to the garden.
We primarily have tomato plants, San Marizano, and a few jalapeno and bell pepper plants. You can see the size variation among the tomato plants but they all seem healthy. Once transplanted, we place grow tubes around them for more wind protection. When the plants grow out the top of the grow tubes, we will train them onto the fencing.
With all the rain we have had, hopefully fresh tomatoes are coming soon!
