Welcome to the Health Benefits Series! Hippocrates said, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”. So let’s take a look at healthy foods to eat and why they are healthy for us. I don’t know about you, but I would much rather get the nutrition my body needs by investing in healthy good-for-me foods rather than waiting for a health problem to develop.
Once physical problems and ailments begin to appear, food can still be the medicine our body needs to heal. This was my experience through the GAPS diet. By giving my body the food it needed, it was able to heal.
But, why wait for problems to develop? Wouldn’t it be better to educate ourselves and prevent disease as much as possible with good food choices now?
That is what the Health Benefits Series is all about!

What are healthy foods to eat? Well, with the Health Benefits Series, we are going to explore the health benefits of particular foods and why they are good for you!
I will be adding links to posts below as they are published. I hope to encourage you in healthy choices for yourself and your family as you are meal planning.
Often, healthy food choices are more economical and easier on your budget than processed foods that are nutrient deficient and filled with unnecessary ingredients.

Be Adventurous and Try Something New
I love finding out about the health benefits of foods because often, if it a food I am not familiar with or did not grow up eating, I don’t give it a second thought.
But, if I know about the health benefits of foods, I am inspired to give them a try and search for recipes to include them in my meal planning.
