Q&A Video #4
Transcript (more or less!):
Hey, it’s DinaMarie back with you with another video in our series, “Your Questions Answered”. This weeks question was asked by two different women ladies in a slightly different way. Joan asks, “How did you get started?” and Kristen ask, “How and why did you start your blog?”.
Well, I started blogging after we get moved from Alabama to West Texas to start our vineyard.
Finances were very tight. We had cashed in our retirement, savings and investments. With the cost of the vines and starting the vineyard, money went very quickly.
With grapes you don’t expect to get a crop until about three years after they are planted. You make a small crop the second year but again the finances were very tight.
I was reading money saving blogs and couponing. And, honestly, I was doing a lot of complaining.
With what I was reading, women were feeding their families of four for about the same amount that I was feeding our large family.
My husband John, got a little tired of listening to me complain and he suggested that I start a blog and try to help others too. I thought, yeah right, who’s gonna read it? Probably just my mother!
But, he prevailed and I started. A few years went by.
I have suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and allergies, especially to meat, that caused a lot of stomach problems since I was a teenager.
I found that those chronic illnesses could be reversed by the GAPS diet. With that, I change the name to Culture Palate and began doing more health related blogging and recipes.
Since then, the focus is changing a bit more to focus on women. I really want to be the older woman – not OLD woman – that teaches younger women. Like the verses in Titus.
So, the things you find on Cultured Palate now are not just recipes and health information. But, you will find things on parenting, home management, organization, things to help you relax and focus on what is most important.
In the Cultured Palate Store you will find printable wall signs, coloring pages, books, Scripture Writing and that’s the purpose of those – to help you focus on the purpose God has for you, in the life that He has you in.
Ladies I hope this answers your questions and I look forward to seeing you next week for another Q&A Video!
