Welcome back to our series Q&A – Your Questions Answered! This week’s question has to do with my self-confidence in life and to starting a blog.
Each week, I will be answering one question that you have asked either through email, comments or the questionnaire I sent out to the Email Club members.

Q&A Video #5
Transcript (more or less!):
Hey, its Dina-Marie from Cultured Palate back with another in the video series, Your Questions Answered.
Today’s question is from Missy who asks, “Have you always been self confident especially to start a blog exposing yourself? I would like to!”
Missy, I have to say that I know different personality types has a lot to do with this. But, I have always been able to talk to just about anyone.
I think a lot of confidence was built while I was in nursing school. As a nurse, you have to go into patients rooms – complete strangers to talk to them and their families to find out about them. Just in an effort to make them feel comfortable, you talk to them. That gave me a lot of confidence.
Starting the blog, my focus was not so much on myself and my insecurities as trying to help others and their needs.
So as you look around and see the needs of people around you, there are a lot of questions and people don’t know how to do things.
If you can help someone and can meet a need, that gives you a self-confidence boost.
It is just like as Christinas with witnessing. That is scary because I don’t have all the answers but if I focus on that person’s need for salvation, it gives me self-confidence to talk to them!
It is the same with you and my other readers. I have had a lot of life experiences. As the mom of 10, budgeting is a challenge and has been a challenge. Organization, getting everything done – it has been a challenge.
If my experience can help someone else, then I want to share it.
That doesn’t mean that I don’t have my fears and insecurities because I certainly do.
Another thing I would encourage you to do if and when you start a blog is to think about your boundaries.
Some bloggers don’t want to expose certain areas of their lives. For example, I normally do not use my children’s names while I show their faces. Other bloggers don’t show their children’s faces.
So, its the level of exposure you are comfortable with.
I would encourage you to pray about it, look around to see the needs that you can help meet because that will give you the confidence to reach out to others.
Missy, I hope this has answered your question and I look forward to seeing you next week!
