Q&A Video #3
Transcript (more or less!):
Hey, its Dina-Marie from Cultured Palate back with another in the video series, Your Questions Answered.
This week’s question comes from Lynne who asks – “How do you know when its the right time to live the life your dream of?”.
Well, Lynne, I’ll tell you our experience and maybe it will help.
We came to west Texas from Alabama for a bluegrass music camp. All of the children play different instruments and this camp had all of them in one week.
That is where our oldest son met his wife and we were introduced to grape growing through her family.
We had always wanted to work together in a family business. During our time living in Switzerland, we started an import business which included the Polish Pottery that you see in many of my photos and kitchen videos.
So, the farming lifestyle really appealed to us. BUT, John had a great job, we had a nice house in the country and a good church family.
Our decision about jumping for a major lifestyle change was a matter of prayer and asking God’s direction.
Within 2 years, things began changing at John’s job with bosses and the company’s focus along with other changes in the area in which we lived and church.
I guess I’m saying, what we thought was a “secure” lifestyle was not.
So, we felt peace about making the lifestyle change. We sold our house, cashed in our retirement and investments, hired a grape consultant, bought land, moved and started the vineyard.
It has probably been the best thing we could have done for our family.
Lynne, I would encourage you to pray about your dreams.
- Do they align with God’s standards?
- Do you have any hesitations?
If you have hesitations, are they real and practical or is it simply fear of following God’s direction into the unknown?
I know following your dreams can be hard but as long as they do not conflict with what God has said – if He has given you this desire, prayerfully seek Him and His timing and He will show you when and what to do.
If you have a question, be sure to leave it in the comments!
