Crockpot Bone Broth

Using the crockpot or slow cooker is a great way to make nutritious bone broth!

  • 2 - 3 lbs bones from a whole chicken or beef bones
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 carrots chopped
  • 2 stalks celery chopped
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice or 1/2 fresh lemon
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 8 - 12 cups water
  • herbs if desired thyme, sage, oregano, garlic


  1. Add all ingredients to a crockpot.
  2. Cover with water and cook on low for 24 - 48  hours.
  3. Adjust the amount of water to fit the size of your crockpot.
  4. Allow broth to cool slightly, and pour through a strainer into a large pot or container.
  5. You can either discard the vegetables or use them in your broth.
  6. The broth is ready to use.
  7. Store in airtight containers for up to 4 days, or put in the freezer until ready to use!

Recipe Notes

Bone broth can be stored in the refrigerator or frozen.
