Almond flour pizza crust which is also a paleo pizza recipe, is a must when it comes to pizza lovers on a gluten-free diet. Using either almond flour or nut butter, it is easy to make and delicious to eat! Definitely a win-win!

Grain-Free Almond Flour Pizza Crust is a must for pizza lovers especially if they are looking for a gluten-free pizza crust.

After all, who doesn't love pizza? I sure do!

Using almond flour (other nut flours will also work), the following recipe is easy enough to prepare right alongside the pizza I am preparing for the rest of the family. In fact, the last time, I doubled the batch and froze the leftovers!

I prepare my toppings beforehand by sauteing onions, bell peppers, eggplant, or any other toppings. Then I brown the meat so that once my crust is formed on the pizza pan, I am ready to proceed with the toppings!

I top mine first with tomato sauce, veggies, meat, and finally homemade raw Swiss cheese on top.

    Ingredients

There is no reason anyone on a gluten-free diet shouldn't be able to enjoy their favorite pizza. This almond flour pizza crust only takes four simple ingredients to make and is ready in 30 minutes.

Eggs - I prefer using pastured eggs but any eggs you can get your hands on will work just fine.

Almond Flour - I recommend using fine blanched almond flour so the crust doesn't come out gritty. Depending on how coarse your flour is you can run it through a sieve to separate out any big chunks.

    Salt

Coconut Oil - Make sure to use refined coconut oil so your pizza crust doesn't end up tasting slightly of coconut.

    Instructions

This almond flour pizza crust is made in only a few easy steps and makes a delicious gluten-free pizza! The ingredient amounts are in the recipe card down below.

Mix all ingredients thoroughly in a mixing bowl - the dough will be sticky. If it is too sticky to form a ball, add additional almond flour by the tablespoon until a ball can be formed.

Grease a pizza pan or cookie sheet to hold about a  9" pizza - I use parchment paper.

Place the formed ball of dough in the center of the pan. Oil your hands and press it out towards the edges until it is the thickness you want. I like it about ½ inch thick.

    Add desired toppings.

    Bake for 20 - 25 minutes.

    Topping Suggestions

There are endless options for topping your pizza. I've listed some of my favorites, but let me know in the comments below what your favorite pizza toppings are! I love trying out new ideas for pizza.

    • Leftover meats such as roast chicken or steak.
    • Grilled or sauteed vegetables such as eggplant, zucchini, mushrooms, and bell peppers.
    • Any fresh vegetables like tomatoes, red onions, and black olives.
    • Mozzarella or your favorite cheese - I love using my homemade mozzarella for pizza! It is delicious and easier to make than you'd think.

    Serving Suggestions

Pizza can be served on its own of course! If you want something healthy to go with your pizza I like serving it with a simple salad with homemade ranch dressing or a light vinaigrette dressing.

I also love serving pizza with any vegetables I need to use up. This is also a great way to add some extra nutrition and get some more greens in the meal. Some of my favorites are steamed broccoli, grilled zucchini and squash, and roasted carrots.

    Storage

Unfortunately, almond flour pizza crust ends up getting soggy if left in the fridge. For best results, I recommend only making as much as you are going to eat right away.

I like making a double batch of pizza crust and freezing whatever dough I don't plan on using. Just wrap the ball of dough in plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for 3 to 4 months.

When you're ready to use the dough place it in the fridge the night before. Take it out of the fridge about 30 minutes before preparing your pizza to let it come to room temperature so it's easier to work with.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good type of flour to use to make gluten-free pizza crust?

If you like a crispy and thin pizza crust then almond flour is the best choice. For a softer pizza crust, you might want to try using coconut flour. Keep in mind that substituting flour won't always be a 1:1 ratio.

Another great and popular option for a gluten-free pizza crust is making a cauliflower pizza crust.

Can this recipe be made ahead?

Yes! One of my favorites things to do is make enough dough for a couple of pizzas and then freeze what I don't use right away. This makes it super easy the next time I want to make pizza because I can take the dough out the day before and I have a fuss-free dinner for the week.

Another great way to make pizza ahead of time is to do everything right up until baking the pizza and then cover it with plastic wrap and stick it in the fridge. I usually try to bake it the same day or sometimes the next day for the best results.

Going to have to try this! Currently following a gluten free diet for my eczema to see if it helps. Pizza is the love of my life and I have been missing it greatly! Haha! I like that the recipe is simple. All the others that I have found include many different flours and are just complicated! Thanks for posting this! :)
