Pear Brownies combine the delicious taste of pears and chocolate in one of the best healthy brownie recipes you can eat! While pears and chocolate are not a common combination in American cuisine, they are paired together in luxurious European desserts quite a bit!
The subtle but sweet taste of the pear is enhanced by the decadent chocolate of the brownie. As a bonus, honey is used as a sweetener making it a healthy brownie.

Mixing these Pear Brownies
There may seem to be a lot of steps for these brownies but they are really very easy to whip up! Here is a quick summary of the steps with tips.
- Be sure to mix together your honey with your cocoa powder and mix them until they are fully combined.
- Then, you will add dry ingredients and finally, the wet ingredients.
- Your pears will go in last.
Do you cover brownies while baking?
You can, but you don’t have to.
However, if you do, the brownies should have a thick, crispy crust and a toothpick should come out crumb covered, but not wet.
If no cracks have appeared in the top of your brownies, remove the aluminum foil and bake for an additional few minutes.
Can you use aluminum foil to bake brownies?
You can definitely use aluminum foil as a pan liner while baking brownies. After lining the pan, spray a light coat with non-stick cooking spray and fill with the batter.
Once your cake or brownies have baked and cooled, you can lift them from the pan by the aluminum foil flaps, peel it back, and cut into squares without any fuss.
Can I bake brownies without parchment paper?
Yes, and I prefer parchment paper to aluminum foil. The steps are similar to above except that after lining the pan with parchment paper, I do not use non-stick cooking spray. Instead, I pour my brownie batter right on top of the parchment paper.
What is the best pan to bake brownies in?
For classic brownies, metal is always preferred. Metal will cook evenly, prevent over-browning, and yield straight edges.
You can definitely use glass or ceramic to bake brownies in but I find that metal works better yielding a better consistency in the final brownies.
Tips for baking brownies in a metal or glass pan:
Whether you use a metal or glass pan here are tips to prevent sticking and yield a delicious tasting brownies:
- Use butter or non-stick spray to coat your pan.
- You can also line your pan with parchment paper (my preferred method) or aluminum foil.

- Select a plastic knife (preferred) or a serrated knife.
- Use a ruler to cut along for straight, perfect cuts.
