A delicious Tuna and Pea Salad made with only 5 simple ingredients that you just may already have in your kitchen! A summer salad recipe is so refreshing in hot weather but chow mein noodles make this especially delicious and filling!
Because fish is such a good source of protein, vitamins B, D, and omega 3 fatty acids, I am making a concerted effort to incorporate more fish into our diet, like this Tomato Basil Grilled Fish recipe that is delicious and super easy to make.
One way to combat the heat outdoors is to serve cold meals indoors. For us this summer, that has meant summer salad recipe meals and grilling.
As soon as spring hits, it's time to dust off the grill and put it to good work. To go with this Tuna and Pea Salad, some of my favorites are Teriyaki Beef Kabobs, Teriyaki Chicken Burgers, or if you are looking for a nutritionally dense food these Beef Heart Kabobs are great for grilling!
Instructions
- In a large salad bowl combine the lettuce and tuna.
- Chop an onion and add it to the bowl.
- Add frozen peas.
- Add mayonnaise. Store-bought is fine, or try out some Homemade Mayonnaise or this healthier Lacto Fermented Mayonnaise.
- Mix well and immediately before serving, top with the chow-mein noodles.
- Serve and enjoy!
Adaptions
1. Gluten-Free Version. I serve this with crunchy chow-mein noodles, but if you are looking for a gluten-free version of this Tuna and Pea Salad, go ahead and leave them out.
2. Additions/Substitutions. You could add many different veggies to this salad, it's a great way to use up leftovers.
- Chopped bell peppers
- Cucumber
- Tomatoes
- Use up stale bread and make them into croutons
- Carrots
- Olives
3. Substitute salmon for the tuna - this is also delicious!
